Good buys and bad buys

Sometimes you just got to let others know what is a good purchase worth your money, and what should be avoided. So, here is some of mine.
Product #1:
In November the temperature dropped quickly and, because I ride the bus to and from work, my skin was exposed immediately to some harsh treatment. As a result, my face began to crack and hurt from the dryness. My regular face lotion a la Clinique was not cutting it, and I was frustrated at how my face looked like crocodile skin. So, I googled "dry skin cream" at Walgreen's.com and what should I find?
This stuff works GREAT! And at roughly $5.99 a jar, you can't ask for a better bargain. Also, I have not-the-greatest pores, and I fully expected two things to happen: (1) I would break out in hives from using a drug store lotion, and (2) I would break out in pimples. But, neither of those two things happened. What did happen was my skin became smooth, my rough and flaky cheeks, forehead and chin became soft, and the results were IMMEDIATE. I am still using the same jar of cream daily, and have more than half of it left, so a little goes a long way.

This is my "Good Buy"!

Product #2:
Now for my bad buy...
When grocery shopping last week, I stopped in the cracker isle and wanted to get some crackers to eat with all the soup I was planning for my lunches that week. When I went to grab a box of Ritz, I noticed that the Safeway brand crackers were on sale for half the price. (Ritz were $2.99, I think, and the Safeway were 2 for $3.00.) So, I bought the Safeway brand... BAD CHOICE. I hate when a generic product burns me, and this one did. They are THE WORST crackers I have ever had, and taste more like the cardboard box it sits in than a cracker.

So, no matter the price, Ritz is always the "Better Buy".
Avoid the generic.

What products have you been surprised with (good or bad) lately?

Hello!!! Your first clue should've been Grandma Bagley's BEAUTIFUL skin! She PUt that stuff on religiously!:) BUt, yes, I don't buy much without someone recommending it to me first, so thanks!

Oh, too bad, Michelle beat me to it. Grandma Pearl was famous for her beautiful skin and always using that same Ponds you are recommending. I can still smell it. Especially since she used the jars for leftovers once the cream was all used up. Ponds raspberry jelly, Ponds cole slaw....you get the idea.

I intially disregarded Ponds BECAUSE my grandma used it (although, I actually only thought she only used the cold cream), because at 30 yrs old, I figured the "old lady cream" would wreak havoc on my pores. But, I cannot deny that grandma had great skin, and that Ponds had to play a big role in that. And now I'm sold on it!

LOL, Kathleen! Now I'm going to giggle about Ponds coleslaw everytime I look at the jar!

And, to correct my blog, when I googled "dry skin cream" the first thing that popped up was Ponds, as well as a link to Walgreens.
